Anthony Oxford BRITISH INVASION
Listen to "Anthony Oxford on President-Elect Barack Obama" MP3 interview below.
The term "British Invasion" was first coined in 1964 to describe the wave of British Rock & Roll and beat artists whose popularity spread rapidly to the rest of the English-speaking world, especially the United States and Canada.
The Beatles, The Byrds, and Jimi Hendrix lead the way in music, while "James Bond-007" portrayed by Sean Connery, Julie Andrews in "Mary Poppins" and "The Avengers" did the same in TV and film.
South East, London's Prodigal Son and theater/commercial actor/model, Anthony Oxford is a card carrying member of "THE NEXT BRITISH INVASION".
He recently came to Los Angeles with the last name of the oldest university in the history of English-speaking world (Oxford) on his back along with the status of being the guy who everyone as seen on television and film, back home in The U.K.
Hollywood is the final frontier and Anthony Oxford is here to receive his Rhodes Scholarship in the entertainment business.
TFM: What are you doing over here in the States when you have such a great name over in England?
Oxford: As a trained actor in England, I found it very hard to get though as a black actor. And I feel like I need to actually "spread my wings" and get out there. So I came out here to Los Angeles to mix it up with my mentor, Kirk Baltz and work closely with my agent, Shonta Gibson...AND just murder it with the modeling.
TFM: Which one do you like best, acting or modeling?
Oxford: I kind of like both of them but the best if you really want to be truthful, it's acting.
TFM: Why?
Oxford: When I get on the stage with my performance, I bring it real. I deal with moment-to-moment acting. I deal with not acting; I deal with the truth. Displaying the truth in front of you or an audience, you can feel me, you can understand me and see where I'm coming from. I didn't come all the way to Los Angeles to act; I came here to bring the truth.
TFM: With the last name of Oxford, that's a big legacy to live up to.
Oxford: I had my challenges in life and the name Oxford has always been with me. It's a great name but I think that it befits the person, as well. I feel that I've got the skills, the tenacity, the strength and the love and the blessing from God to actually fulfill that.
TFM: I hear that Naomi Campbell is a family friend and from Brixton, as well as you are. Brixton is like the "Compton of London", right?
Oxford: Yeah, big up to Brix! I don't really want to go into that too much. People try to drop names and such, but her mother and my mother go way back. She's from the same water, same neck of the woods and same family connection. You better believe that!
